Since prerequisite for these labs are Cisco VIRL images, Frame Relay Cloud in original topology from the Cisco will be replaced by IOSvL2 switch and configured appropriately to imitate sub-interfaces for the point-to-point links. Access to the Cloud not available. All interfaces on the Cloud are configured as 802.1q Trunk, permitting VLAN 12,23,34.


Some of the users in VLAN 10 report that their laptops sometimes behave strangely, for example, one day Anna said that she knows that the company's policy prohibits the use of but she was able to access that website
one day but not the next day and the later again after she rebooted her laptop.
Anna also mentioned that her coworker Peter experience the same problem.

Someone from the help, desk asks her to provide some detail information on the situation so she emails ping results to him but unfortunately help desk support was not able to give the right answer to Anna. Later he relayed that information to the network team. Now it is your responsibility to provide users with solutions.

Open terminal to all Clients PCs and obtain an IP address via DHCP, by typing "ip dhcp" command. Sometimes you need to execute this command twice to obtain an IP address and to eliminate possible DHCP related problems.

Find out about this strange behavior of users laptops by verifying if some of the laptops still able to ping

If you see the troublesome output of ping command proceed to troubleshoot.

Find the culprit.


When Clients PCs will not be able to resolve you will successfully solve the problem.

Also, verify that VLAN10 users are still able to access Web Server.
